METABOLIC TYPE VIII DIET PLAN

(EXCELLENT METABOLIZER)

Characteristics

This Metabolic Type is a combination of Type IV and Type V.
You can follow either diet based on preference, or blend elements of both.

Type IV (Mediterranean-leaning)

Type IV people often have Mediterranean backgrounds (Spanish, Italian, Greek, Israeli, Arabic) and
do well on a Mediterranean-style diet.

  • Burns carbohydrates at a moderate rate and uses sugar for energy; tolerates most carbs including mid-range GI (50–80).
  • Emphasize mostly raw vegetables with limited fruit; salads and fresh uncooked veggies/fruits ~40–50% of the meal.
  • 50–60% from Alkaline Forming Foods and 40–50% from Acid Forming Foods. Limit red meats to 2–4×/week. Use beans, fish, and fowl as primary proteins; nuts, seeds, eggs, cheeses as secondary.

Type V (Paleo-leaning)

Tolerates a wide variety of foods; prone to hypoglycemia so minimize simple sugars. Derives energy more from fat than carbohydrates.

  • Burns carbohydrates rapidly/inefficiently → energy spikes then fatigue; tolerates most carbs including mid-range GI (50–80).
  • Cooked & raw vegetables and fruits are fine; aim for ~40–50% of the meal.
  • 50–60% from Acid Forming Foods and 40–50% from Alkaline Forming Foods. Primary proteins: red meats, fowl (dark meat/skin), oily fish. Secondary: eggs, cheeses, nuts, seeds, beans.

Blend Type IV and Type V based on preference and response—keep portions/macros aligned with your labs and clinician guidance.
