VITAMIN D,25-OH, TOTAL

25-hydroxy vitamin D (25(OH)D) is the primary circulating form of vitamin D in the body, and the total level of 25(OH)D in the blood is a good indicator of the body’s vitamin D supply. The normal range for 25(OH)D is typically reported in nanograms per milliliter (ng/mL) or nanomoles per liter (nmol/L). Some common ranges for normal levels include:
  • 20–40 ng/mL or 60–100 nmol/L
  • 30–50 ng/mL or 75–125 nmol/L
The results of a 25(OH)D test can indicate whether a person has a vitamin D deficiency, normal levels, or high levels:
  • Deficient: Less than 30 nmol/L (12 ng/mL)
  • Potential deficiency: Between 30 nmol/L (12 ng/mL) and 50 nmol/L (20 ng/mL)
  • Normal levels: Between 50 nmol/L (20 ng/mL) and 125 nmol/L (50 ng/mL)
  • High levels: Higher than 125 nmol/L (50 ng/mL)
